For Ramblers, Hikers & Bikers
From the village there is a choice of paths
of differing lengths leading to the Hintersteinersee lake, which makes an
excellent first day's leisurely outing.
For longer, more adventurous walks, you are
in the perfect spot, with paths heading both ways into the Wilden Kaiser
range, either following the contours through the foothills, or for
experienced hikers, up and over the passes into the Kaiserbach valley on the
other side. There is also a free programme of guided walks and bike tours
run by the Scheffau Tourist Office.
Alternatively, a 5-minute car ride takes you
down to the Brandstadl cable-car, which brings you to the top of the
opposite side of the valley, with its gentler hills, and an excellent area
for mountain-biking, with trails both direct from the village and from the
top of the Brandstadl cable-car.
The Esprit Welcome Wander takes place on
Sundays and is a family-friendly walk, suitable for all ages, to introduce
you to the local area. It offers a great opportunity to meet fellow guests
and to plan the week's activities. The gentle walk will culminate at a
scenic spot to enjoy a complimentary light picnic lunch.
